Where I was for the last month

Some of you may have been wondering where I was :) I just finished up a corset design for starkymonster. It is a WonderWoman dress made out of sparkle PVC.

The following is a finished costume corset dress (Wonder Woman.) It is made out of thick sparkle PVC lined in silver denim. Cuffs and tiara accessories complete the outfit. The entire corset was mostly sewn on a Singer 29-4 foot treadle leather sewing machine using size 160 needles and topstitch thread. The contruction uses welt seams throughout with topstitched reinforcement as well as extra boning channels. 3/8" spiral boning was used throughout except for the busk and lacing bones in the back. Size 00 grommets were set for the lacing. The skirt was made in four panels and is a full circle; it was sewn on and riveted for added strength. The dress dummy was not padded out so there are more wrinkles showing than are actually there. More pictures will follow soon.

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I don't think I'm going to be able to say "I sew" anymore. I don't sew, I just sort of meddle about with a sewing machine sometimes.

I'm so green with envy I'm about to sprout roots.

Wow.

Just.

Wow.

Well maybe you need a Poison Ivy costume ;)

This project used more leather working skills (rivets and sewing through upwards of 1/4" of PVC in places.)

Did you still want to consult on sewing or are you all set with it?

You also speak for the geeky women.

Also, I would like to take a moment to say "Wonder Woman vs. Poison Ivy = Chick Fight of the Millenium".

A friend of mine said that she had good experiences with a shop called "Overnight Printing". I looked and couldn't find them but did find this which might fit the bill and could be the same shop: http://www.overnightprints.com/ (caveat: found through google, I don't have any experience with them)

I hope that you are feeling better!

I already sent out the bcards(one day turn and two day shipping to get them back on Thursday) I retypeset the fonts and blew up the needle and sharpened it up a tad. I need it for the website so go ahead and send me what you have. I will get the splash page coded up and then we can talk more about content. At this stage I need to figure out stuff and it's easier for me to just run with something.

Card if you are interested Hopefully the direct link will work.

And because I am a supah dork, comic reference pics!!

Wonder Woman's first few appearances were with a skirt (which I personally find more flattering for people who are not amazon princesses or Lynda Carter), and old school and new school WW (note older WW costume has eagle on chest which was changed to a stylized WW), and Lynda Carter

You know in current comics canon, Princess Diana's mom, Queen Hippolyta, went back in time to the golden age to fight crime as WW. The Amazons got all up in Hippolyta's shit for ignoring them in favor of super heroing so now Themyscaria is no longer a monarchy.

Also, they got rid of the item of Amazon lore that if WW was bound by a man, she lost her Amazonian strength until she got herself free.

*cough*

You want me to engage in more comics dirty talk?

Actually *adjusts pedant hat* I believe the Amazons all leaving this dimension comics were published earlier than the Hippolyta goes to the golden age thing, though within an absolute timeline it does happen post golden age. We will not even begin to discuss Diana becoming a goddess, OK? OK.

What is really neat, is that WW, as Diana, is a UN representative and that when she left Paradise Island she only spoke ancient Greek.
