Music Request

So, I am putting together the set list for the Bikers and Babes party and I need some disposable music. I don't want to run out and buy a bunch of Death Rock for one night ;)

Right now I have some White Zombie/Rob Zombie (mostly remixes), a band from Detroit called Crud, Chemlab, My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, KMFDM, and some misc bands that I need to go through.

If people have some early Metallica, Judas Priest, Motley Crue, etc I could work out an exchange. When I used to listen to them CDs weren't out yet ;)

is sticking the MP3s somewhere accessible (with the understanding you'd delete them after) sufficient, or do you need the CDs themselves?

MP3s are what my mixing system takes so that will save me from ripping them down. I'll delete them after :)

Having gone through my CD case, we also have Monsters of Rock, Billy Idol, Def Leppard, Megadeth, and Iron Maiden.

Damn. I should clean that thing out more often. :)

Would AC/DC help? Can send tracks from a live album, most of the obvious hits.

And I am nearly ashamed to admit this, but what about Skynyrd?

Will accept Shriekback's "Big Night Music" in exchange without guilt because I KNOW I bought that but my copy seems to have disappeared.

I hate mixing live stuff, the crowd noise makes the transitions problematic. I actually do not have any Shriekback, only You Shriek ;)

I may just pick up the AC/DC box set since I really miss the older stuff.

Skynyrd could work.

Let me know which tracks you'd like most and best address for yousendit.

You can use the cilantrophobia.net address in my profile.

Free Bird! Beyond that I have no idea ;)

Hope it's not too much trouble to convert from m4a? That's what I have.

Sending most of what I consider the obvious radio hits.

In case the message function on yousendit doesn't work -- I currently want to get my hands on Rammstein's "Du Hast," NIN "Closer," Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People," and Lords of Acid "Pussy."

(yes, I have a habit of including songs-played-while-we-were-on-the-dance-floor in mixes I make for a certain person.)

I should have closer, and around 6 versions of pussy. I really should have Du Hast somewhere but I seem to remember looking before and not finding it.

I can't deal with m4a, every converter I can find is crippled until you pay and I will not pay for something unless I can hear a complete conversion. Do you know of any free ware converters which do not suck?

No, I don't, so I'll load WinAmp or something and rip from the CD again.

The best set of programs to use has got to be EAC and LAME. Exact Audio Copy will keep retrying scratched areas until a vote proves that it ripped correctly. Also the LAME audio codec does a really great job at compressing to MP3s.

yeah, but will they work on my Mac?
mrpet

ah,

LAME will, just not those binaries. EAC is a PC program. I didn't know that Winamp was compiled for the Mac.

Allegedly this Mini will run Windows stuff with BootCamp -- and I thought I had WinAmp on the old G3 although I could be wrong.

I am not entirely clueful about computers, which is why I love my Mac so much.

so Itunes can't export in anything other than acc/m4a? I could have sworn someone got my MP3's right from ITunes.

I'll poke at it harder but it wasn't on the obvious dropdown menu.

Sweet, We Salute You! Any chance I could either get you to loan them to me or have you rip them down to MP3 (128Kbit) and burn them to a CD/upload them to a server?

Loaning I can do - I don't have much server space to upload to. I have a flexible schedule this week though to do a drop-off.

I should be around my place Thursday night as well as the Diesel Cafe tonight. I have an interview scheduled with the Somerville Journal at 7:30 on Thursday so I can't leave but you could come over. Email me and I'll email my address and cell phone number back.

The only "metal" i have is Dream Theater (the files have "metal" in the genre tag; it sounds like Rush to me). And Judas Priest's "Johnny B. Goode."

...Motorcycle themed songs I'll fare a little better on, though I don't have "Leader of the Pack" or "Vincent Black Lightning." (I do have "Bat out of Hell.")

But I have no idea how those would fit into a death rock mix. (I know "Leader of the Pack" won't fit, but it's got a nice motorcycle-crash sound effect.) They're just what I think of for motorcycle music. ^_^ (If you find a copy of "Vincent Black Lightning," let me know; I don't have one.)

I better go before I use any more parentheses.

With the big bad overproduced sound coming courtesy of Jim Steinman. :)

So who's Robert Paulson?
